The Do Something Principle

A Mindset to Help You Solve Problems

Welcome to Marginal Gains

Hello, Marginal Gains community!

We're excited to have you with us once again as we explore ways to make meaningful changes in our lives.

This week:

An idea I think everyone should know..

The "Do Something" principle from The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson

If you're feeling stuck on a problem or procrastinating, just do something.

Stop waiting for motivation to help you act.

Instead, focus on acting without fear of failure.

When you reframe taking action as a success then it becomes easier to start because you've already won.

An easy win builds confidence which can inspire you to keep taking action.

This idea is something I wish I knew as a new PCN pharmacist.

As pharmacists we often focus on trying to find the right answer.

But in primary care there is no right answer. Just a lot of possible answers.

When I first started I would stress over finding the perfect solution.

But now I understand there are many possible solutions.

So whenever I feel stuck, I just remember the "Do Something" principle and start working towards a solution.

Eventually I start to discover more ideas and a better solution as I keep taking action.

The next time you're feeling stuck, just remember the "Do Something" principle.
