5 Unconventional Productivity Tips To Help You Get The Most Out Of Your Day

Welcome back to another issue of Marginal Gains

This week i’m sharing an idea from

Reddit is a goldmine for inspiration.

Last Wednesday I was scrolling Reddit and came across a post asking for "dumb" productivity hacks.

There was 100s of comments but the following 5 were the best unconventional productivity tips I found:

1.) It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to exist

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to exist.

Perfectionism can hold you back from starting. Lowering the bar helps you get over perfectionism. This tip is a great way to help lower the bar so you can get started.

2.) Just get up and do the first step

This is another way to help you get started. Just focusing on the first step helps reduce friction to start. Once you've done the first step you already have momentum and continuing the task to completion becomes effortless.

3.) Just do it for 2 minutes

This tip works in a similar way to the previous one. Setting a timer for 2 minutes helps reduce the feeling of overwhelm. Once you start though, you're already in a flow so will most likely work to complete the task.

4.) Utilise an alter ego

The alter ego effect is powerful.

It helps create space between your subjective emotions and thoughts and allows you to become more objective, improve self control and stay focused.

5.) One “You” plans, one “You“ does

It takes different mindsets to plan and do. Separating the processes can ensure you're more effective at both.
